Between June 1 and June 10, 2025, police received several reports of retail thefts at Meijer, located at 2401 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. The suspects selected numerous items and concealed some in bags or coolers, some items were placed in carts, and all subjects exited without making payment. A few items were recovered by employees at the exit, and the stolen merchandise was valued at over $1,500.00. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as follows.

Female: 18–25 years old, average build, black hair, white shirt, black adidas pants, beige purse Vehicle: black sedan
June 8
Male: 36–50 years old, average build, white hat, black shirt, blue shorts
Female: 18–25 years old, average build, braids, white shirt, peach skirt, black bag
Vehicle: black GMC SUV
June 9
Female: 26–35 years old, large build, wearing glasses, brown tank top, white shorts
Female: 26–35 years old, average build, green/white shirt, green/white shorts, black bag
Male: 18–25 years old, slender build, black shirt, black pants
Vehicle: black Chevy SUV
June 10
Female: over 50 years old, slender build, low cut brown hair, black shirt, camo pants, leopard print bag
Vehicle: silver Hyundai sedan
This week Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
On February 3, 2025, at 6:40 p.m., a female subject entered Sephora in Market Place Shopping Center in Champaign. The female went directly to the fragrance area and selected several gift sets and travel sprays and placed them in her basket. She then exited the store without attempting to make payment. The stolen merchandise was valued at more than $700.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect appeared to be a black female, last seen wearing a tan coat with fur around the hood, a black shirt and black leggings, and brown furry boots. The suspect entered carrying a basket and left with it filled with the stolen merchandise.
The University of Illinois Police Department is investigating multiple package thefts from an apartment complex in the 100 block of East Healey Street in Champaign. On April 23, 2025, two suspects approached a secure residential building and waited for a resident to open the door. Once inside, the two suspects stole multiple packages. The value of all packages is not yet determined.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects are described asfollows:
Suspect 1: Male, black, approximately 45-55 years old, 5’6” – 5’8”, 170 lbs. The suspect was wearing a black Chicago Cubs hat, a black hooded sweatshirt over a plaid button-up shirt, black jeans, and black and white Nike shoes with red heels. The suspect had a short beard.
Suspect 2: Female, black, approximately 35-45 years old, 5’4”-5’6”, 220 lbs. The suspect was wearing a black hooded jacket, navy blue leggings, and black and white Nike shoes. She was wearing a silver
This week Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary.
On April 12, 2025, police officers responded to a storage facility located in the 100 block of E. Flessner Ave. in Rantoul for the report of a burglary. Surveillance video showed on the morning of April 11 at 1:10 a.m., two unknown offenders arrived in a white U-Haul van. The driver is observed cutting the lock from one of the storage units, and soon both individuals are seen removing various items from the storage unit and loading them into the van.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The first suspect appeared to be a white male, wearing a blue colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The second suspect appeared to be wearing light colored pants, white shoes, and a dark hooded sweatshirt.
This week Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an aggravated robbery.
On March 25, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m., police officers responded to Exotic’s Smoke Shop in the 100 block of E. University Ave. in Urbana for a robbery report. Responding officers learned a male entered the store and began selecting items. The male presented the items for purchase but instead of exchanging money, he attempted to grab the bag. When the store’s personnel resisted, the suspect walked behind the counter, pushed the employee, grabbed the bag of merchandise and attempted to leave the business. Another employee attempted to intervene at which point the suspect removed an object from his waistband and pointed it at the victims. The suspect fled on foot with the stolen merchandise.
The suspect was described as a black male, 25-30 years old, wearing a black stocking cap, a black puffy coat, black pants, and black and yellow Jordan 13 retro “Carmelo Class of 2002” high top shoes.
On March 16, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., three individuals entered a property owned by a private association in the 1700 block of East Perkins Road in Urbana. The suspects broke windows out of a truck parked on the property belonging to the association.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as three younger black males and were described as wearing the following.
Suspect 1 – blue hat, tan coat, black jeans, and black and white tennis shoes
Suspect 2 – black puffy coat, light colored jeans, and white tennis shoes
Suspect 3 – light blue hooded sweatshirt under a navy blue puffy coat, gray pants, and white tennis shoes
This week Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary to motor vehicle investigation. On February 11 at 3:49 p.m.,
a female entered several parked vehicles in the 400 block of E. John St. in Champaign. Officers learned several items inside one vehicle were moved around, and the glove box was opened. At this time, it’s unknown if anything was stolen from the vehicle(s) involved. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, who was described as a female wearing a teal jacket with a hood, blue jeans, white/tan shoes, and carrying a green bag.
On February 17, 2025, police officers responded to Urban Beauty and Fashion at 1502 North Cunningham Avenue in Urbana for a reported robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned five suspects entered the business,concealed items, and fled the store south toward Oakland Avenue. Approximately 10 minutes later, all five suspects returned to the business. Employees attempted to prevent the suspects from reentering and thsuspects pepper strayed one employee and battered another before leaving the business again with additional stolen merchandise.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as five black females, approximately 16 to 24 years old, and were described as wearing the following.
Suspect 1 – pink hat, blue jacket with white fur around hood, a pink hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, and white/black shoes
Suspect 2 – black jacket, white hooded sweatshirt, blue Sponge Bob Square Pants pajama pants, black boots, carrying a black purse
Suspect 3 – black jacket, blue hooded sweatshirt, blue flannel pants, two toned blue tennis shoes
Suspect 4 – black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with red writing and an unknown white figure
Suspect 5 – orange hooded sweatshirt, red flannel pants, orange Croc style shoes, carrying a blue bag
This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
On January 17, 2025, at approximately 8:10 p.m., three subjects entered Meijer at 2401 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. The trio split up and each selected merchandise separately before meeting back up briefly then all heading towards the exit. The subjects made no attempt to stop and pay for their selections. Loss prevention staff recovered $1700.00 in merchandise and the subjects fled with additional items valued at $1000.00. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described
as two black males, one white female, and all appeared to be approximately 26 to 35 years old. The trio left in a black Dodge coupe with tinted windows. The unknown suspects were described as follows:
Suspect 1 – male, 5’10” to 6’02” tall, wearing a black hat, black jacket, black shirt, and blue jeans
Suspect 2 – male, 5’03” to 5’09” tall, wearing a black hat, black head mask, black puffy coat, and black pants
Suspect 3 – female, 5’03” to 5’09” tall with red hair, wearing a gray hoodie with a pink design and blue jeans
This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a robbery.
On January 4, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., an unknown male entered Sally Beauty Supply at 2016 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. Once inside an employee assisted the suspect in selecting items and carried them to the front counter for checkout. The male then ordered the employee to the back of the store. The male grabbed the unpaid items from the counter and fled with nearly $400.00 in stolen merchandise.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a black male with a mustache or goatee, 60-65 years old, and approximately 6’0” tall. He was last seen wearing an orange ballcap, a blue Illinois hooded sweatshirt, and jeans. The male was seen leaving the area in a white sedan.
